  • Re: Networking

I had a simular problem, and no matter what i did the other computers could not be seen. In the end I re-named my network, following all the rebooting on all my PCs, and it worked!

  • Wireless acceleration?

I have a 3 year old, cheap, no-name desktop (Cisnet) that runs on XP and am using a Linksys wireless router to connect with my brand new, expensive,  Dell laptop that is using Vista Home Premium.  The no-name desktop runs a gazillion times faster than the Dell laptop.  What gives?  I am SO frustrated!  Any help you ...

  • X-Box and PC Wireless Connection

Hi All, I have a wireless connection to my XBOX 360 mainly used for music and viewing photo's.  I have found that when I do my regular Tune-up (with Winows Live Care) that my Xbox does not recognise my later updated photos or music.  The only way I can have XBOX recognise the new files is to disconnect the Xbox from the PC and reconnect ...

  • Re: Wireless networking

Sorry, I don't understand the ''flashdrive'' method of network setup either - do you mean you have collected the settings on one pc and are trying to transfer them over to the other one? I have always run the network wizard independently at each computer, to be sure that individual elements are taken care of. First area to look at is the ...

  • Re: Why do I have 2 networks?

Hello SportiveUK, The default workgroup name for Vista is WORKGROUP, the default for XP home is MSHOME.   Am I right to assume you have XP Pro, and you changed the workgroup name to MyNetwork, but left the Vista workgroup name as Workgroup?  I would see what happens when you change the Vista workgroup name to MyNetwork.  Looks ...

  • Re: Network Printer Issues

Hmm... • Networking Vista with XP - Invisible files

Hello to All, I have Vista and XP systems connected to a netgear router.  I use the Public folder in Vista to share files.  On the XP system I have run the LLTD Responder.  The XP system found the shared folder and in general sees most of the files.  However, every now and then from Vista I put a file in Public but the XP ...

  • Re: Network Printer Issues

Is it supposed to work like that?? I've got a mini print server attached by ethernet cable to the router, with the printer attached to that by the USB one. It looks like this , though it is actually by Sweex (cheapo - works fine)   edit - on revisiting my link, realised its the parallel version. Here is the Netgear USB version (still ...
