Thanks for your reply. But I have managed to play and download files on Vista before. I assume that maybe a recent Windows update mya have upset the DRM somehow? Also C4oD service doesn't work either.
I have emailed the BBC to see if they have any other fixes.
Any other replies please.

Not suggesting anything, but it sounds as though you are using a copied disk rather than the original, perhaps?
Have you tried running Support Drv Setup.exe ?
