    Windows Vista Activation

After nearly a year using Windows Vista Business I am getting a message in the task bar which says something like "you have fourteen days to activate you copy os Windows Vista" When installed it was activated online

How do I re-activate? Do I need to? What will happen if I do not?

I use my computer all day every day for my business so re-installing is not an option at this time

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks

    Adrian

    Re: Windows Vista Activation

check the welcome center to make sure you are activated , control panel > system & maintenance > system . If not then follow the instruction to activate , might require a call to microsoft  , if you dont after 14 days you wont be able to get in , Have heard of this happening after installation of sp1 , usually with non genuine copy`s

It can also happen after seemingly minor hardware changes.  The activation line at MS is pretty good though if you have to use it.  Just be honest with them and they'll give you a code to type in.

If you can't activate electronically, it'll provide the number to dial depending on what country you are in.  It'll be the same dialogue box that you type the long string of numbers provided by the person who answers the phone.

    Re: Windows Vista Activation

    SP1 uninstalled, so problem sorted.

I understand from MS that this issue is known "and is being worked on"

Thanks for all the replies anyway

    Re: Windows Vista Activation

Now that you have unistalled SP1 reinstall it from microsoft download centre this time the service pack wont be a Beta and the Activation message will not come back.
