    processor upgrade

    Hi Members

    I have a am2 motherboard with athlon 3800 processor 4 gig memory  win vista premium upgrade. I know vista is activated and reg to my motherboard i had to reactivate when bios updated will the same happen when i upgrade my processor to athlon 4800 i have vista sp1 installed .robin

    No ,re- activation would only be required if you re-install operating system , On a straight processor swap no changes are made , so enjoy your new faster processor

    I wouldn't be so sure of that.  A new CPU is a significant hardware change and it will most likely trigger a deactivation.  Even a new network card can trigger a deactivation.
