    Re: What's your Windows Experience Index score? Vote and let us know!

    I have 2GB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM installed - but my score is brought down because of memory... This is on a Dell Inspiron 9400 with Centrino Core 2 Duo 2GHz processor.  Am quite happy with the performance of Vista and the PC in general, but the 4.5 score does seem an anomaly.  Any inputs?

    System details below, bit disappointed at the score for my processor. Score of 5.6 but this is for the processor, all the other components score 5.9. Makes you feel spending the money was worth it!

    Re: What's your Windows Experience Index score? Vote and let us know!

     I refuse to spend on DirectX9 hardware, waiting to get a DX10 card, I want a 8800GTX soo bad, but I want to wait and see if anything else nice comes out, I don't technically need DX10 hardware yet, so I'm holding out long as I can, to save money, and also get the best of the best!

    The processor score could be better, but given what I spent I'm very happy! I'll be getting a better processor only when I need it, this thing hasn't given me a bottleneck yet, so I'm happy about that, besides I'm still waiting on some games that fully support multithreading, like, built on it from the ground up.

     EDIT: My DX10 card is on the way, GeForce 8800GTX Superclocked version, and the AMD64 X2 6000+, along with another 2GB ram, but I'm already at 5.9 on that, so it won't budge I guess. Now I'll have 5.9 across the board except my hard drive, but it's perfectly fine no way I'm upgraded it, it's fast, and 400GB is enough! Taking my mustang off the road for a while so I'll have extra money easy.

    The 3800X2 runs 2.0Ghz stock, have you overclocked it? Oh and I highly recommend upgrading to DDR2 ram, makes a world of difference gaming, I saw a 12% increase in FPS in a Doom 3 benchmark, "timedemo demo1 usecache"

    Big Smile I have a home built PC and is as follows:-

    Motherboard Gigabite GA-965P-DS3

    CPU Intel Pentium(R) D 3.00 GHz                          Subscore    4.8

    Memory (RAM)  4.00GB                                                          5.4

    Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GT/GTO                                  5.4

    Gaming graphics 751  MB Total available graphics memory        5.8

    Primary hard disk  68GB free (112GB Total)                              5.4

    I am very happy with Vista but two things are of concern firstly software devolopers advertise their software as Vista ready when it is only 32bit ready they seem to have forgotten there is 32bit & 64bit. Why not advertise the software as 32bit or 32 & 64bit Vista ready. The other thing is Vista I wish to change my HD from 112GB to 200GB and thes software doesent like it and tells me I have tried to install into a different PC

    Re: What's your Windows Experience Index score? Vote and let us know!

    more than 2 sticks in most mbs will default RAM speeds to 2T, 'T' being clock cycles. 1T is usually preferrable, memory, though less, simply runs faster. Experience index measures memory ops per sec. fiddle with BIOS to find the 1T/2T switch, possibly newer processor integrated controllers will allow for 1T timing with 4 stcks, but doubtful.

    Re: What's your Windows Experience Index score? Vote and let us know!

    Well mine is only 2.5

    But its running on bare minimum specs like an age old xp2000 chip which will only run at 1,24GHz, 512 ram, 20 GB hdd.....and the mobo, well don't even ask!

    I'm happy with that.....until I learn to stop overclocking my home builds and frying them, then I'll have to put up with it!

    That said, I'm loving Vista. Not really having used XP much, can't really say how different it is, as I'm used to running 2000, preferred it to XP anyway.

    Who says you need to go out and buy new hardware. Even aero works. It's a bit laggy on ram but apart from that runs a treat apart from the odd bsod and one or two sudden crashes at install.

    My score is only 5.4 I don't understand why some of you only have 2GB of RAM with a score of 5.9, yet I have 4GB of 8500 DRR2 Dominator RAM which is DAMM good stuff.

    Processor = QX6700 QUAD CORE

    Graphics = 8800GTX in Sli

    Hard Disk = 2x Raptor X 150GB in SATA RAID 0

     Any ideas how to up my RAM score???
