Hello,yes its there in add/remove programs and there is a desktop shortcut but when i double click or right click and open the mouse pointer swirley thing, it does its bit then stops and nothing appears

I think the first thing to try is to uninstall, then reinstall to see if that solves it.

ok i will give it another go, ive just had to make a vista recover cd as posted on this forum in another thread because it wouldn,t boot but got that sorted so im sure now i can work this out. I will let you know how i get on and thanks for the replies. Dont know why it would not boot its only a day old

All boot issues resolved so turned my attention back to installing yahoo messenger with the same result. Download from yahoo site and the setup gets to 99% and wont finish

Some things to try.. use run as administrator when starting the installation;
install the software from an administrator account; turn off any
security software before trying to install the messenger apps.
